Shaina joined the Caris College team in June 2019 in the Comprehensive Dental Assisting program as a part-time Adjunct Instructor and was later promoted to the full-time Lead Instructor position in November 2019.
She is originally from Southern Indiana, born and raised! She recently moved from a small town in Harrison County to New Albany. Shaina graduated from Paoli High and later attended Dental Careers of Southern Indiana in 2008 graduating at the top of her class. She was then accepted into the University of Louisville Dental Assisting Delegated Duties program where she also graduated at the top of her class. She holds her license in Dental Radiography from both the Indiana and Kentucky State Departments of Health. She holds a certificate of competency in Radiation Health and Safety from the Dental Assisting National Board [DANB], and a First Responder title. Shaina completed her clinical externship with the Clark County Health Department under the direct supervision of Dr. Donna Rush, who was a true pioneer in the Dental community.
Before joining Caris, Shaina worked with quite a few military Dentists. She worked in the field as an Expanded Duties Dental Assistant for about 10 years. While gaining experience, she acted as a mentor to fellow dental assistants. Shaina also worked at Dental Careers of Southern Indiana as an Instructor to mentor and guide new Dental Assistants.
In her free time, Shaina can be found spending time with her children Kaden, who attends New Albany High, and Gracelynn who is homeschooled. She also, enjoys camping, shopping, swimming…really anything outdoors!
