Overview
The Associate of Science in Registered Nursing program is designed to help students learn through a collaborative approach based on relationship-centered care and is focused on training students to perform a wide range of patient care functions. To ensure students receive a well-rounded education, the registered nursing classes include instruction with hands-on application in multiple nursing disciplines, including medical-surgical nursing, maternal, pediatric and geriatric nursing, as well as mental health nursing.

What you’ll learn
Students in the Registered Nursing program develop the advanced clinical knowledge and technical skills required to provide comprehensive nursing care and diagnostic support. Through a combination of classroom coursework and hands-on clinical instruction, students gain experience in the following areas:
- Patient assessment with documentation of assessment and history
- Routine care such as medication administration, IV skills, wound care, catheterization, etc.
- Infection control
- Documenting and using EHR
- Clinical judgement to assist providers and advocate for patients
- Problem solving care plans
- Communicating with patients, families and healthcare team

Graduates of the Associate of Science in Registered Nursing program are prepared with the knowledge and hands-on clinical skills needed to begin careers as registered nurses. The program is designed in accordance with BPE, ISBN, and ABHES accreditation standards. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates may become eligible to sit for the State Boards of Nursing (NCLEX-RN) as permitted by applicable state credentialing requirements.
